EDINGBURGH MARATHON 25TH MAY 2008
The Edinburgh Marathon is now approaching it's 4th year and again expect a record number of entrants along with a record finishing time.The Edinburgh Marathon offers runners the ultimate personal challenge with a spectacularly scenic route, which takes runners past many of Edinburgh’s famous landmarks and tourist attractions. The Edinburgh Marathon is more than just a race – it is a festival of fun with on-route entertainment and finish-line celebrations. The race day will also reflect great human spirit thanks to the thousands of runners raising much needed funds for charitable causes.
On the 15th of June 2003 Scotland’s capital hosted its first city marathon in 17 years. 3000 runners took to the streets of Edinburgh out of which over 1/3 were raising funds for charity. Edinburgh Marathon 2004 built on this achievement on 13th June with over 5000 people taking part. Edinburgh Marathon 2005 has firmly established its position as one of Scotland’s premier sporting and fundraising events.
The Edinburgh Marathon has forged strong links with a great variety of Scottish and UK charities. In 2004 over 150 charities benefited from the race with approximately £1million being raised and 2005 saw an amazing £2million+ being raised.
