Getting Altitude in Meribel.

If something is going to dictate where and when you go skiing this year then here it is!

The Altitude Festival 2008 is kicking off in Meribel, France for 2 weeks from the 5th of April and boasts an ever increasing list of Comedians and Djs that will make you ‘Oooh' and ‘Aaah' all the way to your nearest travel agent.

There will be hundreds of acts coming to the festival including one of the directors of the event:  Marcus Brigstocke (News Knight, The Late Edition, The Now Show).  Other comedians penciled in include Bill Bailey and Phil Jupitus (Never mind the Buzzcocks), Paul Merton (Have I got news for you),  Alan Carr (Friday Night Project) Ed Byrne, Jo Brand, Al Murray, The Comedy Store, Andrew Maxwell's Full Mooners and many, many more.

After all that laughter it doesn't stop there, with live music throughout the Festival and DJs from the Ministry of Sound and Hed Kandi.

Not content with entertaining you just in the evenings there will be pro-boarder slope style sessions, kid's comedy day and comics vs. musician's competitions!

Why are they doing it?  Because it turns out that excellent comedy, live bands and superstar DJ's are the perfect way to end a day on the slopes, and in this case the perfect end to the almighty Alpine Ski season

The festival aims to be as carbon neutral as possible and raise awareness of not only how much global warming is having an impact on our world and our mountains but more importantly how we can do our bit to prevent it.  They have also pledged 2€ from every ticket sold to go directly to the WWF.
