Costs: Registration fee of £250 (refunded once sponsorship money has been received) Must raise a minimum of £2000 in sponsorship Further Information: http://www.theraceagainsttime.com/index.htm In 2003 Ciaran Doran created The Race Against Time - an endurance cycle ride from Lands End in the south west of England to John O'Groats in the north east of Scotland covering the 874 miles in just 5 days. The longest stage of the Tour de France is still shorter than the shortest day on The Race Against Time.
Ciaran raised over £14,000 through sponsorship by successfully completing the race in just over 50 hours - leaving Lands End at 6.30 on the 14th June and arriving in John O'Groats on the 18th June at 10.03pm. The Race Against Time is a new cycling endurance challenge for committed riders who want to do the ‘End to End' fully supported in less than a week.
The name of the ride reflects the urgency with which the HIV/AIDS problem in South Africa must be addressed - both the needs of those already affected by the virus, and those who can still protect themselves. Date to be confirmed, check website for confirmation of event!
